Toyohilo Kagawa became one of Japan’s most famous Christians. This minister to the poorest of the poor died in 1960. Japan’s Emperor posthumously awarded him the nation’s highest honor, the Order of the Sacred Treasure.
Toyohiko Kagawa (1888–1960) was a Japanese Christian pacifist, Christian reformer, and labour activist. Kagawa wrote, spoke, and worked at length on ways to employ Christian principles in the ordering of society and in cooperatives. His vocation to help the poor led him to live among them.
